The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Friday urged the government to resolve the issue of transportation of goods in the interest of the economy. REAP chairman Mehmood Moulvi has said that the government has imposed a ban on the entry of heavy traffic in the city,, and loaded trucks are also stuck up outside the city.

He said that due to the recent orders, rice exporters are also facing problem regarding the transportation of their rice cargo from Karachi to Port Qasim. Ahead of this move transporters have also increased the charges, he added. "REAP would like to take transporters on board and, with the support of the government and the ministry, sort out the matter amicably," he said.

He said that rice exporters are already facing severe challenges for a couple of years in the domestic and international markets and now the transportation issue is creating more problems for the exporters. Pakistani exports, which are already declining, will suffer very badly if the problem is not resolve soon, Moulvi said.
